The S-7 grading unit is an alternative machine for the well-known sorting/washing cylinder used for separating and washing and is applied for separation and washing of larger shellfish from small shellfish (spat), half (empty) shells and small debris.

Contrary to the sorting / washing cylinder the S-7 distinguishes itself because the product is treated applying minimal “stress”. The unit consists of a driven roller track, where all rollers are rotating during the transport of the product. This guarantees an effective sorting with a minimum of product damage. The distance between the rollers is normally fixed at 14 mm. The product supply should be equally divided across the width of the machine. The small shellfish (eventually spat) and small impurities falling from between the rollers is collected by a small hopper and can be flushed out to one side by means of a water flow.
