A new method of size grading of fresh shellfish in the shell. The shellfish should be supplied to the unit clean and if possible "de-barnacled". A system of horizontal positioned rotating shafts, with 2 "fixed steps" takes care of an accurate grading of the sizes. Spiral shaped threads around the shafts improve the transport of the product. Under the unit, the shellfish can be collected in 3 fractions (exclusive). A change in grading (3 sizes at the same time) can be established, before processing, by adjusting the mutual distance of the grading shafts. A quick change (easy to adjust) of the sizes to be graded is possible over 6 mm. Indicators show the distance between the grading bars. Sizes to be graded are to be stated by the client when ordering .
